Our 18 month class introduces the children to a routine. The routine is set to the children’s needs and can be flexible if needed. They have gym time, outside time, and music and movement. They begin eating snack as a class together, as well as starting to learn how to sit down as a group for circle time. The teachers show tremendous grace as the children learn to adjust to this transition.
The children are encouraged to play nicely together, but we help guide them to learn how to share and play nicely with each other. Our teachers interact with the children on eye level and encourage them throughout their entire day.
The 18 month class begins learning their colors, shapes, and singing songs in circle time. We use the Wee Ones curriculum for this class. It teaches them about God and how much he loves them.
Our 18 month class is set up to encourage the children and their parents as it is hard to leave them for the first time. Our staff are very supportive and understanding throughout this process and helps guide them to reach their developmental milestones.
2 Year Old Class:
The 2’s class promotes independent play through child centered activities as well as teacher guidance through one on one worksheets or crafts. In this class the children eat snack together at the table and they learn how to clean up after themselves after their snack is over with the teachers help. We work on using the potty as well as learning how to wash our hands.
The 2’s class learn their colors, shapes, numbers 1-10, and get an introduction to each letter. We use ABeka curriculum for their numbers. In this class the children get weekly Bible stories to learn about Jesus and his love for us.
The 2’s class will have circle time activities like: songs, talking about the weather, counting, colors, and shapes. The children enjoy playground time especially with bubbles, or the gym if we have inclement weather.
3 Year Old Class:
In the 3’s class we promote independency, but also encourage them when they need a little extra help. We encourage them to use their words, when they are in need of something, instead of their hands. We teach them how to communicate with others as well as manners.
In the 3’s we use ABeka curriculum for letters, and numbers. They will begin to learn the sounds of each letter, and how to count to 20. They learn how to trace letters, numbers, and begin tracing their name. In the 3’s they start tracing with crayons, but will transition to pencils by the end of the year. We introduce how to use scissors and how to paste. They will continue to grow their fine motor skills with play-doh, painting, coloring, and using do-dots.
We encourage them to listen and follow directions. We notice that in circle time their attention span will lengthen. The 3’s class teaches the children how to become independent and sets the children up for success for the 4’s.
4 Year Old Class:
Our 4’s program is designed to set up your child for success in Kindergarten. We encourage them to do tasks independently, with guided help if it’s needed. We promote independent play with friends, centers, and how to do their worksheets quietly.
The 4’s program has fun weekly themes. They learn how to rote count to 100, count by 10’s, learn how to blend sounds together, and introduce reading skills. They learn vowels, and how to use the vowels correct sounds in words. They create cvc words on their ladder blends. They will begin to learn basic math skills like: sorting, patterns, graphing, simple addition and subtraction. They will begin to learn how to write simple sentences with their teachers guidance. The 4’s class uses Abeka curriculum for letters and numbers.
The 4’s will have 2 circle times each day. One that focuses on pledges, calendar, sounds, sight words, blends, and the letter of the week. The second one focuses on math skills for that week as well as the number of the week. The 4’s have weekly bible classes as well.
TransitionalKindergarten:
The TK class is designed for children who just miss the cut off for Kindergarten or who need a little extra challenge. We use Abeka curriculum to learn letters and numbers.
Our math curriculum includes counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s up to 100. We also teach number recognition and begin an introduction to shapes (2D and 3D), addition, subtraction, time by the hour and 1/2 hour, patterns, sorting, and money.
Our reading curriculum develops skills to read by letter and sound recognition, blending letters and learning to sound out words. We use Abeka books and Bob books when your child is ready to begin reading. We also learn monthly sight words to help with reading fluency.
Our writing curriculum helps to build strong writing skills through letter formation, punctuation, and weekly journal writing. In our writing journal we draw a picture and work on sentence structure to fully illustrate our thoughts.
